# Name

Every app has a name: it tells people which tools they are logging into.

```ts app.ts theme={null}
export const app = new AwaitIO({
  name: 'Internal tools',
  // secret, users, components…
});
```

`name` is required. The app refuses to start with an empty one (spaces around it are trimmed).

## Where it shows

* On the login page, above the form.
* On the left of the header, next to the [environment](/core/environments) badge when there is one.
* In the browser tab, as `Internal tools` or, with an environment, `Internal tools (Production)`.

The login page loads it from `GET /api/app`, which answers without a session; the name is the only thing about the project shown before logging in, together with the current environment's badge.
